Carp Fest 2014 was held at Two Rivers State Recreation Area this year on Saturday, July 19. There were quite a few people camping in the park, but not many fishing, so we didn't have to look far for a nice place to fish. Some of our club members were out early and enjoyed some fishing before we had lunch. It was a beautiful day and we used a picnic shelter shaded by a huge old sycamore tree for our meal. We feasted on fried carp, grilled hot dogs, coleslaw, fresh fruit, zucchini bread, deviled eggs, cake pops, cookies, chips and soft drinks. After we ate, several club members went fishing for a couple hours. I must say the members gave it their best efforts, but no carp were caught at this year's carp fest. Several bluegills were, and just after lunch a nice catfish was landed. We did all have fun out there fishing and eating together and I'd say it was a pretty great day all around. Thanks to everyone who came out a participated!
