May Cornhusker Fly Fishers Events

Summer is here! ....wait... don't we usually have spring!?!? Either way, the Cornhusker Fly Fishers have a full slate of events to fill your fly fishing needs this open water season.

First thing on the agenda is a Tie-In, Tuesday May 8th, at Backwoods Omaha in the Aksarben Village from 6-8PM.  We'll be hanging out and demonstrating fly tying techniques to all those interested.  Feel free to bring your favorite beverage (beer or otherwise).

This Month's Meeting is Wednesday the 16th at the Nebraska Outdoor Education Center in Lincoln.  Click Here For Directions.  Doors open at 6:30pm and Meeting officially starts at 7.

Our May club meeting will be a special presentation from club president, Larry Dostal.  Larry will be talking about catching carp on the fly in the cornhusker state.  He'll also be demonstrating the June Fly of The Month, the mulberry (along with a few other favorite carp flies).  If you've ever wanted to tangle with ultimate freshwater sport fish, don't miss this meeting! We have a great raffle this month and our May fly of the month is the legendary and classic Closuer Minnow.  Check our Fly of the Month tab if you need to learn how to tie it!

Thursday May 17th is the Beer & Gear festival at Backwoods Omaha in Aksarben Village from 5-9PM.  There will be all manners of fly fishing vendors, casting competitions, prizes, and of course... Beer.  Cornhusker Fly Fishers will have a table set up, stop by and see us!

Saturday May 19th is our annual Agnes Adams 1-Fly Bluegill Contest at Burchard Lake.  Stay tuned for more details on that.
