May 2020 Club Events

Wednesday May 20th the Club will have a social distancing FISH OUT at Louisville State Park in Louisville, Nebraska.  Social distancing means maintaining a minimum one fly rod’s length from other people at all times.  There will not be a picnic or pot luck, you’re responsible for your own food and beverages.  The club will officially be there from 6 to 8pm, but feel free to show up earlier or stay late.  Please keep an eye on your email or our website for updates.

Even though we fish for anything that swims here in the Cornhusker State, May has been officially designated “Bluegill Appreciation Month.  If you're interested in catching some bluegill, tune in to our Facebook at 7pm Thursday the 21st.  We'll have a live stream from Eric Einspahr and Larry Dostal about everything bluegill.  We'll answer your bluegill questions as well as cover biology, gear, tactics, and even a fly tying demonstration of one of our favorite bluegill flies.  Tune in at 7pm!

Saturday May 23rd is our annual Agnes Adams 1-Fly Bluegill contest.  Due to the current situation we are moving it to a “virtual format” to keep angler spread across the state.  Fish any legal body of water from 10am till noon sharp.  Rules are basically the same, 2 hour time limit, only 1 fly, if you break off you’re done.  Only pure bluegill count toward your fish total.  To register: Send an email to our club’s account cornhuskerflyfishers@gmail.com, or send message on Facebook, or Instagram.  Than report your fish total when the clock strikes noon.  We’ll have a Facebook and Instagram live stream from president Larry Dostal and president elect Eric Einspahr at various bodies of water, reporting updates LIVE during the contest.  Check your email and our website for additional details and updates.   Good luck everyone!
